Today, Kentucky leads the nation as the #1 state for overall cancer mortality. The incidence and mortality rates of Metro Louisville and several geographic areas of the state particularly Appalachia, are major drivers in our nation leading cancer burden. In addition to elevated risk factors, low screening rates have been a major contributing factor to the burden of cancer especially among the uninsured and under-insured. Low screening rates result directly from the inability to access appropriate and timely lifesaving screening tests. The Foundation raises private funds to increase the volume of proven prevention and early detection cancer services.
Kentucky needs us and we need you to help decrease disparities in access to cancer prevention and early detection services.
The Kentucky Cancer Foundation is fiscally sponsored by the Community Foundation of Louisville, Inc., a 501(c)(3) public charity. All gifts must be made payable to the Community Foundation of Louisville for the Kentucky Cancer Foundation.
